We're building a community space for digital makers and curious minds in Portland.
Rose City Digital Commons will be a non-profit creative space for people who make things with computers. We hope to welcome game developers, software engineers, digital artists, designers, electronic musicians, and anyone working at the intersection of technology and creativity.
Think a maker space, but for computer based crafts. Everything you can do alone in your house, but would be better with other people around to challenge and inspire you. A safe and welcoming space to create alongside fellow tinkerers, exchange ideas, and be part of a community that motivates you to finish what you start.
What we're imagining
- A comfortable social space for gathering
- Member-run classes, workshops, and skill shares
- Audio, video, and streaming production stations
- Console development kit access for indie game developers
- Hardware workstations for electronics projects
- Free event space for non-profit technical/creative meetups
- Workstations, fast internet, build servers, project hosting
- 24/7 member access
Who this is for
- Indie game developers and hobbyists
- Software engineers who want to work around other people
- Digital artists, illustrators, and designers
- Musicians, podcasters, and streamers
- Creative technologists and creative coders
- Community organizers and meetups
- Anyone making digital things who's tired of building alone
Help us build this
This is early. We're talking to people, validating the idea, and figuring out what Portland's creative community actually needs. If this sounds like something you'd use, we want to hear from you.
